Hi, I’m Hannah — welcome to Trickrecipes!
I’m the voice, author, and creator behind Trickrecipes. What started as a personal journey to survive my own kitchen disasters has now grown into a cozy little corner of the internet where I share practical cooking tips and easy, feel-good recipes with a sprinkle of creativity. My goal? To help you feel more confident in the kitchen — no matter where you’re starting from.
To be honest, I didn’t always love cooking. In fact, for the longest time, the kitchen and I had a bit of a love-hate relationship… okay, mostly hate.
Every time I tried to cook something, it felt like total chaos — overflowing pots, weird flavors, and one time I even set off the smoke alarm just trying to make toast. I’d follow recipes to the letter, but something always seemed to go wrong. Cooking felt intimidating, like a skill reserved for chefs or people with perfect Pinterest kitchens.
But everything changed one night.
I was hosting a small dinner at my apartment — nothing fancy, just a cozy evening with friends. I decided to make a homemade vegetable soup. Easy enough, right? Well… somewhere between nerves and not tasting as I went, I added way too much salt. I panicked. The soup tasted like the ocean, and my guests were arriving in less than an hour.
Not knowing what to do, I called the one person who always knows everything about food — my grandma.
Calm as ever, she said, “Put a raw potato in the soup and let it simmer. It’ll absorb the salt.”
I had never heard of that in my life. It sounded a little too magical to be real. But I was desperate, so I gave it a shot.
And guess what? It worked. The soup balanced out beautifully. No more salt overload — just a warm, flavorful bowl that my friends actually loved. They even asked for seconds. I smiled, acting like I’d planned it all along… but deep down, I knew it was all thanks to that one little trick.
That night was a turning point for me. I realized cooking didn’t have to be scary or complicated — it just needed a few helpful tricks.
Since then, I’ve collected, tested, and even created my own little kitchen secrets. Simple things that make a big difference — like how to fix a too-thick smoothie bowl, how to meal prep without getting bored, or how to make chia pudding that’s actually the right texture.
That’s why I created Trickrecipes — a blog full of helpful ideas for anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed in the kitchen (just like I used to). Whether you’re a beginner or just want smarter ways to cook, I’m here to share the tips that helped me fall in love with cooking — one trick at a time.
Thanks for being here 💛
Let’s make cooking fun (and a little bit magical) again.
